CEIAG

Careers, education, information, advice and guidance at Rumworth School (CEIAG)

The vision for our careers education follows our ‘you can do it, we will help’ philosophy. Our aim is very simple, to provide the best opportunities for our young people both during their time at Rumworth and when they leave us as young adults. Careers education centres around the Preparation for Adulthood (PfA) agenda, whether that be focussing on independence or towards employment (paid or voluntary). From the moment a student steps into our community, we are working with them and their families to prepare them for successful adult lives where they can make positive contributions to society.

The curriculum at Rumworth School is one which offers all our students a breadth of aspirational academic study appropriate to their individual needs, leading to accreditation which will support their progress onto next steps in education and or training. Developing students’ independence, understanding of their personal identity and place in society is equally important to us as a community, which is why CEIAG entwines our subjects like a golden thread. Whilst we do have discrete CEIAG opportunities in specific subjects, we try to make use of all lesson time to prepare our students for life beyond school.

Rumworth School’s Careers Leader is: Mr Simon Mullineux

The SLT contacts are Mr Tom Sherbourne and Miss Jane Haslam.

The Gatsby Benchmarks

In order to support your children, we will work towards meeting the Gatsby Benchmarks - a framework used to support CEIAG for students at Secondary School.

We have three core aims

We work towards these aims through each key stage and school year group

Promoting new skills for life after school through the curriculum.

Discovering about different careers and the world at work.

Giving students the tools and advice so that they can manage their own career choices, employability, skills and future careers.
